Finding the Purpose

Why are we doing this trip?

I was thinking about the trip and asking myself why. Why would 2 sixty year old women undertake a trip like this?  I wanted to showcase Africa, show people this amazing continent that many would never get to visit. But that wasn't enough. Yes Luise and I both had the spirit of adventure and were always keen to take on a challenge, but that wasn't it. There had to be a purpose, otherwise why do it. I asked myself, how could a trip like this make a difference. How could we use this trip to give back?

We are going to see amazing sights, natural wonders, wildlife, which we'll be sharing with those who follow us on YouTube. Then it came to me. The purpose for the trip would be to raise awareness and funds for different charities and organisations that operate in the region. There are wildlife conservation projects doing so much good, but most haven't heard about them. There are education projects in impoverished areas and other projects to provide clean water in rural areas. But people around the world are unaware of them. We can use this trip and our YouTube channels to raise awareness and put these organisations/charities into the spotlight. If we have a selection of charities, then people can choose which ones they would like to support. We can show what they are doing, interview representatives from these agencies, and share firsthand the good they are doing. Anybody wanting to support one of our partner charities can do it through each charity's website. We'll put the links to their website in the description of each video we do about them.

This trip had to have a purpose. It had to make a difference. We had to find a way to give back.
