Making a Difference
For his 91st birthday, Nelson Mandela suggested that people commemorate his birthday by doing something to make a difference for 67 minutes every year on or around the 18th July. The 67 minutes is one minute for every year that he worked for social change.
On the 17th July 2026, I signed up as a volunteer with Ladies of Love to spend 67 minutes making sandwiches for underprivileged preschoolers. The event was well-organised and very well-attended, with many companies sending their staff to take part. The venue was Cape Town Stadium.
It was an honour to be able to give back to the community.
